The objective of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively connect, visualize, and customize data reports using Power BI. Participants will learn how to connect to various data sources, including Excel, CSV, and SQL Server, and extract and transform data for analysis. They will explore the creation of different types of visualizations, such as charts, graphs, and tables, to represent data in the most effective and meaningful way. Additionally, participants will learn how to customize the layout of the report by adding images, text, and other visual elements to enhance the engagement and readability of the report. By the end of the course, participants will be able to utilize Power BI to connect, visualize, and customize data reports, enabling them to effectively analyze and communicate insights from diverse data sources. This course aims to empower participants to make data-driven decisions and create compelling and informative data reports for various business and analytical purposes.


• Solid understanding of SQL for data retrieval and manipulation.

• Proficiency in exploratory data analysis (EDA) with Python, including data cleaning, preprocessing, and basic data visualization.

• Access to a computer with the necessary software and tools to install and run Business Intelligence Tools, specifically Power BI.

• Familiarity with different data sources such as Excel, CSV, and SQL Server, including knowledge of data extraction and transformation techniques.

• Basic understanding of data visualization concepts, including different chart types and their applications.


Introduction to Business Intelligence and Power BI

Understand the fundamental concepts of Business Intelligence (BI) and how it plays a crucial role in making data-driven decisions in organizations. Understand Power BI features and capabilities witht hands-on experience by installing and setting up Power BI desktop and service.

Data Preparation and Transformation

Explore various data sources and learn how to connect to them using Power BI. Understand data loading, data transformation, and data shaping techniques using the Power Query Editor. The topic will also cover merging and appending data from different sources for comprehensive analysis.

Data Modeling and Relationships

Create a data model in Power BI by defining tables, columns, and measures. Enable cross-filtering and effective data exploration by establishing relationships between tables. Create custom calculations and measures using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)

Data Visualization Techniques

Design impactful dashboards using Power BI visuals by exploring and creating various types of visuals such as charts, tables, maps, and others to effectively convey information. The topic will also emphasize best practices in visual design, formatting, and storytelling to create engaging reports.

Power BI Service and Collaboration

Discover the Power BI service, a cloud-based platform for sharing and collaborating on reports and dashboards. Learn how to publish Power BI reports to the service, create and share dashboards with colleagues and stakeholders. The topic will also cover workspace management and access rights to ensure secure collaboration.

Advanced Analytics and Power BI Integrations

Use the advanced analytics capabilities within Power BI by appling forecasting and clustering techniques to gain deeper insights from data. Additionally, The topic will also touch upon integrating Power BI with other Microsoft tools and third-party applications for seamless data flow and analysis.
